Let’s talk Bedrooms. They’re one of the most important rooms in the house and should be kept nice and clean. But where do you start? Here are some tips and strategies to turn spring cleaning into more than just a chore.
1. Strip your bedding – wash your comforter, sheet, dust ruffle and pillow cases in the appropriate setting on your washing machine. Avoid using bleach because it can discolor your bedding.
2. Wash your pillows – The next step in spring cleaning your bedroom is washing your pillows. Use a gentle cycle on your washing machine. Put at least two tennis balls in with the pillows in the dryer. The balls hitting the pillows help keep them fluffy.
3.Tackle the closet – The closet is sometimes the ‘under the bed’ method of cleaning for the adult world. If we don’t know where it goes, stick it in the closet! With spring cleaning, you’re going to tackle the closet. Go through your clothes and create ‘give away’ and ‘throw away’ piles. If you haven’t worn something in two years, give it away. Organize your clothes by color or type. Most importantly with spring cleaning your closet is be honest with what you wear and what you don’t wear. Donate if the clothing is in good shape, throw it out if not.
4.Work on the dresser – If your dresser drawers are over-packed with clothes, try taking everything out and then restacking them vertically. This will keep your shirts, pants, etc neatly folded and easy to grab what you need.
5.Vacuum the floor – This spring cleaning the bedroom tip works even if you have hardwood floors! If there are little cracks you can’t reach, try tapping a straw to the end of the smallest vacuum attachment and try again.
6.Flip the mattress – This is a popular, tried and true spring cleaning bedroom tip. If you have a pillow top mattress, memory foam, or anything other than a spring mattress, do not flip it. Instead, sprinkle some baking soda on the bare mattress and vacuum it up. This will keep it smelling nice and fresh.
Spring cleaning your bedroom doesn’t have to be a hassle. The biggest task is the closet and as long as you’re honest with what you wear and don’t wear, even that will be a snap.
