Lemon Fresh Cleaning
Many of the cleaning companies advertise the lemon as a symbol of freshness and cleanliness. Well, if being like a lemon is great, being the actual lemon must be that much better. And, indeed the lemon is one of the must have items in your natural cleaning arsenal. It does not get any more natural and green (yellow, actually) that the remarkable lemon.
Lemon juice can be used in a variety of ways to clean around the house. It is really an unsung hero when it comes to using green cleaning products. It has similar properties to vinegar and is used in a variety of fashions. The lemon is a natural anti-bacterial and disinfectant. So, you should use lemons anywhere you want to clean and disinfect, like on cutting boards, kitchen counter tops, and kitchen sink fixtures. Use a lemon in these area and not only will you clean and disinfect, but also get the lemony fresh smell from and actual lemon and not a brew of chemicals made to smell like a lemon. Lemons have other uses around the house. The juice of a lemon is about 5-6% citric acid. This slight acidity make the lemon a great cleaning agent. Acid breaks things down, things like soap scum, hard water deposits, food stains, mineral deposits and the like. Therefore, you can use lemons to shine metals like brass and copper. A common problem is hard water deposits from water splashing on mirrors and counter tops. Lemon juice mixed with water can remove these. Also a little lemon juice mixed in the rinse of your dishwater can get rid of hard water stains caused by the water in the dishwasher.
Try a little lemon juice instead of chlorine bleach when cleaning your whites. Spray lemon juice on fabric stains. Remember to rinse with water. Lemons will bleach.
Lemons, along with vinegar, baking soda, borax, and corn starch are cleaning dynamos.
